01

Who we are

Wontanara Cite is a civic issue reporting and resolution platform built by Wontanara Cite and operated on behalf of participating municipal corporations. For every complaint you file, the municipality is the data controller and Wontanara Cite is the data processor.

This policy covers the Wontanara Cite website and the Citizen, Department and ServiceMan mobile applications.

02

What we collect

We collect the information required to route a complaint, contact you about it, and prove it was resolved.

Account details: name, mobile number, email address and your ward.
Report content: title, description, category, photos, and the location you pin.
Device and diagnostic data: app version, device model, crash logs and network state.
Usage data: which screens you opened and which reports you interacted with.
03

How we use location

Location is captured when you file a report, adjust a pin, or open the map. Field crews share live location only while a task is in progress, and only with their department.

We do not track your location in the background, and denying the permission never blocks reporting — you can drop the pin manually.

Location rule
A report always carries the location of the issue, not of the reporter.
04

How we use your information

Your data is used to route complaints to the correct department, keep you informed at each status change, verify that work was completed, and produce ward-level statistics.

Aggregated, de-identified statistics may be published as open civic data — resolution rates, response times and category volumes. These never identify an individual reporter.

05

Who can see your reports

A complaint is visible to the municipal department it is routed to, the assigned officer, and the field crew handling it. Your name and photos appear on the public ward feed only if you post publicly and do not choose to report anonymously.

Anonymous reports hide your identity from the public feed and from other citizens.
Department officers always see the reporter identity for accountability and follow-up.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
06

How long we keep it

Complaint records are retained for the statutory municipal record period. Account data is kept while your account is active. Diagnostic logs are kept for a short window for debugging. Detailed periods are listed in the table below.

07

How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is role-based, and every status change is written to an immutable audit trail. Photos carry a timestamp and GPS watermark so evidence cannot be silently altered.

Offline drafts are stored encrypted on your device and removed once they sync.

08

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your personal data, withdraw consent for optional processing, and object to publication of a public post.

Request a copy of your data from Profile → Privacy & security.
Correct your name, ward or contact details from Edit profile at any time.
Ask for deletion of your account; resolved complaint records may be retained in anonymised form for municipal audit.
Response time
We respond to a rights request within 30 days of verifying your identity.
09

Children and changes to this policy

Wontanara Cite is not intended for use by anyone under 16. If we learn that a minor has registered, we remove the account.

When this policy changes materially we notify you in the app and by email at least 14 days before the new version takes effect. Older versions remain available on request.
